Finally Wii has arrived. Wii is hereNintendo Wii Games - After trailing the gaming race for two generations with trailing edge consoles, Nintendo has finally got the formular right with it's different approach in the Wii. The Nintendo Wii - formerly known as the Revolution, makes use of motion-sensitive controllers, allowing you to swing a sword, throw a punch, or drive a car with a flick of the wrist rather than with the push of a button. Also, the Wii, at around $250, costs considerably less than the Xbox 360 or the PlayStation 3. Nintendo Wii - Nintendo Gambled with Wii Best Wii Games - Nintendo has ventured off the beaten path with its newest system, and the company knows it. While the Sony PlayStation 3 and the Microsoft Xbox 360 both emphasize their impressive graphical capabilities, Nintendo downplays the importance of graphics on its new console, the Nintendo Wii. While the Sony and Microsoft consoles keep the branding of their respective predecessors, the oddly named Nintendo Wii is a semantic departure from Nintendo's more literally named 2001 console, the GameCube. And while the PS3 and the Xbox 360 both use conventional gamepads bristling with buttons, control sticks, and directional pads, the Nintendo Wii uses a device that looks more like a TV remote than a gamepad to control its games. Best Wii Games - These strange choices could have spelled failure for Nintendo's newest endeavor, the Nintendo Wii. Underplaying processing power, using a strange new controller setup, and giving the whole package an odd name could have been major mistakes for Nintendo. (Consider some of the company's earlier attempts to go against the grain: the Power Glove and the Virtual Boy.) But if our early experience with the Nintendo Wii is any indication, this particular Nintendo gamble seems likely to pay off. It's strange, it's new, and it's not as powerful as its competitors, but the Nintendo Wii succeeds in its primary mission: it's fun to play. Best Wii GamesBest Wii Gaames - Thanks for visitng. Best Wii Games - 2007 as it
happened 2007 open with the Nintendo
Wii still in it's post-launch months with the
support of first-party title Wario Ware and Super Paper
Mario, along with third party efforts by EA and Capcom
with SSX Blur, The Godfather, and Resident Evil 4: Wii
Edition. As the year ticked
by, Wii found more support with games like
Zack & Wiki, Guitar Hero III, Trauma Center: New
Blood, Madden NFL 08, Scarface: The World is Yours,
Medal of Honor Heroes 2, and MLB Power Pros. Best
Wii Games - The year got started well by going
downhill fast, with the mid-Winter release of this
Wii-exclusive edition of Electronic Arts' well known
snowboarding series. SSX Blur evolved the franchise's
signature slope-riding design by introducing motion
controls into nearly every possible aspect, a decision
that caused some gamers to celebrate the series' new,
fresh feel, but had other players pulling their hair out
in frustration. And, it's true, many of the game's more
complicated tricks were mapped to challenging Wii Remote
motions but that just made it all the more satisfying
for the hardcore player who invested the time and effort
to master them all. Best
Wii Games - The Paper Mario RPG series got its
start on the N64, where its unique "pop-up book" 2D
visuals stood in stark contrast to the 3D adventures
that were the most popular and prevalent in that era.
And the contrast continued onto the Cube, where Paper
Mario: The Thousand-Year Door maintained the
two-dimensional look, and further played up Mario's
"paper" form by allowing him to transform into paper
airplanes, rotate himself to squeeze through thin spaces
and more. But this year's Super Paper Mario
took the series in its boldest direction yet, as it
actively capitalized on the differences between
dimensions by allowing players to freely rotate the view
of its stages from 2D to 3D, and back again. Shifting
the perspective back and forth was the only way to
progress through most of SPM's many stages, each of
which had been recast as much more action-oriented as
the RPG aspects of the franchise were significantly
downplayed. This is a truly unique experience on Wii,
and good thing too because when it arrived in the
Spring, the system was in need of unique experiences to
keep players' patience in check while they waited for
the arrival of the games placed down lower on this
list. Best
Wii Games - "What're ya buyin'?" One of the
most well received and critically acclaimed games of the
last generation, Resident Evil 4 made huge waves in the
industry when it first debuted exclusively on the
GameCube in January of 2005. The game had some trouble
finding the audience it deserved there, though, and it
was eventually ported to the PlayStation 2 where it
received a few new features and a true widescreen mode.
Then, again, this past Summer saw it ported once more.
The game came back to Nintendo's turf, arriving on
Wii. Resident Evil
4: Wii Edition is the best version of the game so far,
as it combines the highest selling points of its
previous editions and adds in even more features.
Specifically, for the Wii, motion-controlled aiming for
Leon S. Kennedy's many different firearms. The budget
pricetag attached to the title offered further incentive
for Wii owners to invest in the package, and it must
have worked because Capcom announced just prior to
Halloween that the game has already sold over a million
copies worldwide. Best
Wii Games - It took until the Summertime, but
the Wii finally got itself its first pair of Wi-Fi
Connection capable games with Pokemon Battle Revolution
and Mario Strikers Charged. And while battling the many
colorful Pokemon creatures against each other through
the Net was novel, it was also done before on the DS
making Strikers the Wii's first original online
experience. The game took
the design of the GameCube's late generation title Super
Mario Strikers and enhanced it, adding in more action,
more abilities, more characters, and, of course, some
motion-based controls. You'd wield your Wii Remote to
fend off opponents' super-powered shots, all the while
planning your own counterstrikes in Charged's
electrically-themed, high-voltage arenas. It's one of
the most energetic Mario Sports titles to be released in
recent years, and is certainly worth a look especially
if you have some fellow Wii-owning friends to play
matches against through the Wi-Fi
Connection.
