How to Copy Wii Games the Hard
Way
Step by Step Guide showing you how to
copy Wii games
First step in the backup, burn or
copy process is to get the right harware
and software to make it posible to copy Wii games. You
will need one of the following DVD drives to copy Wii games(To
date, no other drives have been found to copy Wii games
reliably).
-
LG-8164b
-
LG-8163b
-
LG-8162b
-
LG-8161b
Next you will need
to download the following applications
Once you have downloaded all the
required files stated above necessary to copy Wii games, right-click on the
rawdump2.0.rar and select "Extract to rawdump2.0\" this will make a folder
on your desktop called rawdump2.0.
The next step of the process is to insert
the Wii games disc you wish to copy into your LG drive
as per previously mentioned requirements.
Next, open the rawdump2.0 folder and double click on
the rawdump2.0.exe file.
After doing this you will be presented with the following
interface. The next step is to just click "Start Dump." The
time it takes to copy Wii games will
vary but on an average machine it should take approx. 2
1/2 hours. When it is complete you will be greeted with a nice
finished message. The file it creates will be in the same
directory as the rawdump.exe file. It should be called "Game
Name.iso." This ISO is an image of the actual game and is
ready to be burned. You can burn this image with many
different applications, but I will be providing screenshots
for Nero Burning Rom.
This step is
very important. You need to check your file and see how large
(Giga Bytes) it is. To do this Right-Click on your
iso(this is in your rawdump directory) and select properties.
It should say,
- Nintendo Wii ISO size: 4.37
GB (4,699,979,776 bytes).
- Nintendo Gamecube ISO size:
1.35 GB (1,459,978,240 bytes)
|
All Nintendo Wii and Gamecube images will be this
exact byte size. If your Wii image is off by any then
you have a bad dump and need to try again.
|
So next step is
to open Nero.
Once nero opens,
cancel out of the create new dvd/cd/etc dialog box and 0n the
top drop down menu go to - Recorder
----> Burn Image.
When you
click "Burn Image" you will be asked to locate the image file you wish to copy. The image
will be located in your Rawdump2.0 folder (Usually on the desktop).

|
Select the Wii game that you have
dumped with rawdump and click open. You will then be presented
with this dialog. Make sure to select a relatively slow burn
speed at first to attempt to prevent DRE's (Disc Read Errors).
These seem to be common among people that do not use high
quality dvd's. Last minute note
on "How to copyWii games" - Make sure you use good media! Taiyo Yudens
are a reasonable brand and they are also cheap. They have
been used sucessfully to copy DVDs and PS2 as well as to copy Wii games. Generally
consoles use fairly cheap laser DVD Drives in their systems so using good
quality disc to copy your Wii games is the key. The burner is
the other key ingredient. Do some research and find a good
one.
Please Note - The LG drive required for
READING
the Wii games disc is NOT a DVD Writer. You
will need a separate burner. Make sure to install .
net Framework 2.0
(3.0 also works) before you run RawDump2.0 to copy your Wii
games. Vista users ignore...it's already in
there.
Modchip installation...wiikey.cn.
If after your dump you see a rar
file (or image file) it is an .iso file. You are
looking at the icon, not the extension. Change windows settings to see the extension
and you will see, ".iso". The reason you might see the RAR "book
stack" symbol is because when you installed WinRAR you selected it to recognize
.iso files, and so it associates the WinRAR icon with .iso
files.
I hope this mini-guide on "How to copy Wii
games" helps you. Keep Gaming
ok.
